Our Story
From MARCK&MO to MONNA-MAE
Fashion designers Edwin Marck and Moon Geerlings founded MARCK&MO – Vanity Bags in 1992. In 2016, their professional paths diverged, and Moon continued the brand independently.
Now the time has come to officially rename the label MONNA-MAE – Treasure Bags.
The name MONNA-MAE carries a personal meaning. Monna is a variation of Monica, inspired by Saint Monica of Hippo (c. 332–387), an early North African Christian and the mother of Saint Augustine. Mae is inspired by the Sanskrit word Māyā, meaning "illusion."
For Moon, the concept of illusion holds a deeply personal significance, reflecting on the experience of living in an illusion for many years.
The MONNA-MAE Collection features unique, beautifully handcrafted bags and leather accessories, including clutches, sling bags, crossbody bags, and attaché cases. Every piece is created with more than 34 years of craftsmanship, using premium full-grain leather, high-quality hardware, and meticulous attention to detail.

The Designer
Moon Geerlings
My name is Moon Geerlings, a creative all-rounder — innovative, efficient, and goal-oriented. My independent entrepreneurial background has fostered productivity, a strong sense of responsibility, and versatility.
Since 1992, I have run my own business, the bag label Studio Moed, handling both design and production. Operations expanded in 2002 to include designing collections for third parties and overseeing production in Hungary and Tunisia.
As the client base became more international, the business was renamed MARCK&MO in 2003. In 2006, I became a pioneer in Arnhem's Fashion Quarter (Modekwartier), establishing a combined shop and studio that remains there to this day.
